"Greetings from the Sunshine State" is a new series of works based on retro and vintage postcards of Queensland. These images take the viewer back to the fundamental ways of life ironically called the "good old days". They illustrate the relaxed lifestyle sought after by locals and visitors but which is being eroded away due to the population growth in South-East Queensland and a more hectic modern world.

As South-East Queensland grows and the influx of rural people to urban centres continues, the small communities and their abandoned buildings take on a rustic charm. Old service stations and their disused petrol pumps in particular embody this phenomenon in a visual form. Urban renewal in the city has also had an impact on suburban streets with old architecture of suburban businesses like butcher shops being replaced by modern shopping centres.
