Sandi Abernethy
Sandi Abernethy is a painter of people and emotions. She works from life and invites the viewer to explore the subtle gesture of the moment. Her spontaneous approach to figure painting captures the gentle tilt of the neck and sensitive fold of the hands in soft and peaceful tones. Her palette is distinctively warm and muted to suit her subjects.
Sandi was born in England but now resides in Brisbane's Paddington. She studied Graphic Design at Bournemouth College of Art. Her awards include the inaugural Courier Mail Portraiture Prize in 1999 and prizes at the RNA and Redland Art Shows.
Sandi will be joining the gallery for the "30 days Hath September ..." exhibition in 2010. She will be exhibiting seven female nudes painted in a warm palette.
